I know this may seem cliché, that people often remark how the best gifts they received weren't expensive; rather, these gifts were thoughtful and memorable.
And this year, this saying has held true for me. Maybe it's the fact that I'm bored of new headphones, books, gift cards, and clothes, but then again, maybe, I really got something that I never expected, yet I can cherish.
I believe in the latter.
Perched on the highest branch of the tree (my dad's idea of a joke) was a gift for "#37", my jersey number for my club volleyball team, Bay to Bay. I opened it and found a picture of our team at the awards ceremony at our regional championships, posing with our medals. On the bottom, my dad had photoshopped in "Bay to Bay- 16 Nike Black 2008". All this, in a picture frame in the shape of a volleyball.
I thought taking me to practice every weekend, getting up at 4 am, and driving hundreds of miles for the tournaments was the greatest sacrifice and gift that my parents could give.
But, I guess there's more.
Thanks Dad..
